“All original runs drives and stops. Previous owner rebuilt the motor and put a reproduction body tub on it. The Jeep also has a brand new Besttop Top that goes with it. I currently have it off, but can put it back on in a few minutes . It comes with five original 15 inch wheels and a set of 32 x950 super swamper tires. The wheels in the pictures do not go with the Jeep they belong to another Jeep that I own. Carburetor could use a cleaning. “Great running and driving Jeep. Engine has been gone through and it starts, drives, stops, like new. F134 Hurricane with the 3 speed transmission, 2-speed transfer case with Warn locking hubs. The frame is in really great condition – straight and solid. Previous owner had put some undercoating on it too so it’s pretty well protected. The body is straight and fairly good for the age but it needs attention. Driver floorboard under the gas tank is the worst spot – it’s on my list to repair. The rest of the body is good other than a little rust hole here and there – all cosmetic. It comes with a sport bar, new bikini top, and a set of boat speakers that work with the little Bluetooth radio the previous owner installed. A solar trickle charger, 4 brand new tires and an older spare.”

Listed as a 1952, this is missing the correct fenders and lacks the hinged grille. It also has a V-6.

It seems Ineglected to post three Jeep News issues from 1959. So, here’s the first one, an eight-page issue from June of 1959. One page one, apart from dealer info, an articleshared the news that several gatherings of jeeps would tour the Colorado Rockies as part of the “Rush to the Rockies” Colorado Centennial celebration during the summer of 1959 (an event detailed here).

Page two includes a story of Roy Nickerson and his family’s trip from the tiny town of Smelterville, Idaho, to Toledo to see how jeeps were made and to then drive six vehicles back to their Nickerson Brother’s Willys Dealership in Idaho. Page three tells how then Baltimore Colt’s fullback Alan “The Horse” Ameche participated in a Jeep television commercial (I couldn’t locate the commercial online).

Page four shows some images and stories from the 1959 Tulsa Oil Show Jeep Exhibit. Page five includes a reference to a new, easy-to-install Capstan winch from Ramsey. Page six highlights the large number of jeeps plying the Atlantic Coast-line, including at least two fire trucks. Page seven discusses the Etowah County ‘Jeep’ Club, which doubled as a civil defense unit. Page eight shares pics from the beaches of North Caroline, where jeeps proved popular for fishermen.

We’ve discussed the Transport Motor Company, out of California, a few times. Clint reminded me that Farmjeep.com published a wonderful overview document of the TMC Farm and Industrial Equipment. Clint added his thoughts about the equipment in a comment at the bottom of this post.

What caught my eye was TMCs body extension, a full-width body extensionthat attached to the back of vintage jeeps. I’ve documented the extension several times, but didn’t know what company made it. It turns out, some of those full-body extensions are from TMC. (here is my compendium of document 1/4 extensions)

The February 1960 Jeep Service and Parts News is another four-pager. One item on page three that caught my eye was FC-170 frame re-inforcement that became effective with 61568-17824 and 61568-13-10417. Prior to that, a May 1959 (I don’t have) issued announced a kit that was available for frame reinforcement.

NC title, driven occasionally for 3 summers.

Relatively rare, 7000 built of 70,000 CJ5s built over 4 year period. Unique enough to have a dedicated parts list and shop manual.

Sold as “a new kind of sports car”.
It is a CJ5, 4 wheel drive, but with various unique features such as:
1.Chrome trim and bumpers
2. Bendix servo brakes, much larger than standard
3. Single lever transfer case
4. Column shift
5. 2/3, 1/3 split seat
6. Alternator

It is an interesting, fun vehicle, in my wife’s family since new. It deserves to be restored”

“I have a 1946 Willy’s flat fender with a dauntless V6, 3 speed transmission split shift transfer case.. tires r good, runs great. I’ve driven it from Delhi to calaveras co and back with no problems. It does need paint and has some rust, I started patching rust already in the main spots but the salt from the Idaho roads really took a toll on the body. But it’s still a cool jeep. Nothing a little paint can’t cover up 😂. Also needs seats, I have a back seat but need front seats.. also have a hard top for it.. I hate to sell it but things got bad for me real quick and need the money.. I’m asking $4000- and probably won’t go down from that price. May be open to trade. Lmk. What u have. Please no junk. I want Something running. Jeep is registered as well”
