    I couldn’t resist… Scary as it is, this is 100% accurate to conversations I’ve witnessed. Taking part in DEIB efforts shouldn’t mean anything beyond 3 core principles:1. Providing #culturalawareness and appreciation to others social identities 2. Creating pathways for #equity in the workplace 3. Recentering #collaboration for everyone’s different voices so that the entire organization can operate optimallyBusinesses that automatically say “no” to DEIB, are saying “no” to organizational growth. Diversity in the workplace inherently means the best of the most different experiences weighing in. Why isn’t this something you would celebrate or invite? As #socialimpactleaders we need to remember that part of the education process of #DEIB begins with…💡HOW it relates to one’s organization.

    Two hidden costs to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) training exist: 1) The loss of connection between people owing to friction created in engagement sessions, often resulting from differences in world view and disagreement. 2) Reprisal or punishments for sharing vulnerably, either saying 'the wrong thing', or sharing "too much" and being seen as "ungrateful" or "not a team player". Both of these exist as potentials in all DEIB training. It is baked into the DNA of sharing human experiences from different perspectives.
