What do banks look for in situational judgement tests?
These questions are designed to assess candidates' behavior, problem-solving skills, and decision-making abilities.
This test explores how you are likely to behave in work-based situations similar to those you would encounter in the job. Would your behaviour fit with what is expected in the organisation?
The situational judgement test will be assessing your speed and accuracy. The answers are multiple choice and you should try to work quickly within the time limit, but also accurately. Negative marking is unlikely to be used but do not guess answers, as this will show up in your accuracy score.
Use the SJT to present your best self.
When responding, choose what you should do and not what you are likely to do. Be sure to read all instructions carefully, as with any important test. If there is a question you are unsure of, mark it and move on. If you have time at the end of the test, you can return to it.
In the event that your SJT fails, there will be no opportunity to re-schedule unless it can be proven that the test failed due to circ*mstances beyond your control (for example, Pearson VUE's system failing).
Acting too quickly and without thinking: You need to be able to prioritise what is important through careful thought rather than impulsive behaviour. Selfish actions: You must always act in a way that reflects the team's aims rather than your own personal objectives.
The UCAT website outlines that candidates who achieve a band 2 'demonstrate a good, solid level of performance, showing appropriate judgement frequently, with many responses matching model answers'. Therefore, a band 2 or above is generally considered to be a good Situational Judgement score in the UCAT.

The SJT is a computer-based assessment and will be administered by Pearson Vue test centres. The SJT will last for 105 minutes and will consist of 56 questions.
During the exam, you'll get 26 minutes to answer 69 questions, related to a series of scenarios. Each scenario can have up to 6 questions associated with it.
Is Situational Judgement easy?
Situational Judgement questions are really easy to overthink if you mull on them for too long, because you could always make an argument that something is more or less appropriate based on other factors. Take the scenario you're given and go with what you know to be true based on it.

Situational judgement tests (SJT) are now a common part of the recruitment process. They allow employers to assess the suitability, in terms of both drive and core knowledge, of large groups of candidates by providing them with multiple-choice questions and scenarios.
Situational Judgement tests are widely used in medicine to evaluate candidates' professionalism. UCAT Situational Judgement assesses attributes considered important in the study and practice of medicine, including empathy, adaptability, resilience, teamwork and integrity.
Try to imagine yourself in that particular work environment and consider the different outcomes attached to the possible answers. There are also many practice situational judgement tests on the internet so do as many practice assessments as you can to familiarise yourself with what types of questions you may be asked.
Your SJT result will be expressed as a score between 0 and 50, to three decimal places. Most people score between 36 and 44.
The SJT is a long exam, with lots of reading and a lot of questions to get through. It's easy to accidentally run out of time so make sure you time yourself doing a practice paper. Always make sure to put your answers down as you go and you can flag any that you are unsure of for review and come back to them later.
