I see Leigh have announced an Aussie signing on a 3 year deal. Meanwhile , the silence from Saints is deafening

Leigh need the publicity to offset their losses. We announce ours later in the season,it's not a new thing.

Catalans also signed Nick Cotric. So they'll have him and Makinson on the wings next season. Good recruitment that.

As frustrating as it is seeing other teams active and us seemingly doing very little (that we know about), we can't really judge our recruitment and retention until we rock up for pre-season next January.
Looking on at other clubs enviously is pointless until we know what we have up our sleeve.

Knowing how saints work and knowing how many kids have come through into the first team why wouldn't he be happy ? He's been included in the first team squad,he trains with them,he's been 18th man, he's clearly on the radar. He's out on dual reg and that's step one. He will get his chance.
Hes not been on dual reg for the last 2 weeks though he's been running the water on for the 1st team while Davies and Royle play before him.

He's been involved on match days,he was 18th man, that's still valuable experience. It shows that they have confidence in him. He's 6 months into full time, how many times does this need to be mentioned? Davies and Royal are ahead of him in experience and development. Incidentally how old were Davies and Royal when they made their debut?
People are going on about him being annoyed and possibly leaving, when the reality is he is on track, the club are including him and it's all steps up the ladder. He's got nothing to be unhappy at. He's on track to the first team,he knows this, most reasonable people on here know it. So why are people always making a drama out of it ?

I think perhaps the question is not if he will get his chance it's when and seeing the competition: an aging Hurrell and Davies (with Makinson injured, blake a better winger than centre but not a world beater and Percival) I hope it's sooner rather than later, but as you say it is inevitable.

Balmforth was mentioned on here recently but he's just signed a new deal at Hull FC.

Crying out for signings that are going to other clubs. Armstrong, Cotric even Makinson who is leaving ffs!
Last year the likes of Nene Macdonald was available and we stuck with Konrad.
Recruitment under Wellens has been shocking

Potentially a sensational signing that. It makes me think we need to be looking at who is doing their recruitment, they're clearly very good at their job. If it's Lam identifying the players, he's doing an outstanding job.

Does make you wonder if cashflow or finance in general is the issue. Whilst other clubs are recruiting players, our social media is full of begging bowls for academy tours and club lottery schemes. Are we just up against the wall because of covid loan repayments and other operating costs?

The same Nene Macdonald that went awol on Leeds, let's not forget that. When they needed him he wasn't there.

Mike Rush is stating - publicly - a) Success is measured in trophies (therefore no trophies - no job) b) We stand a better chance of winning when we field our strongest team.
What I'm saying is Mike Rush doesn't have to say anything for Paul Wellens to get the message. Just as everybody in the corporation knows that when the boss offers up an opinion on a matter it might as well be a Papal Bull. He doesn't need to write you a letter in triplicate for you to understand. As I said, it's the old "Who will rid me of this meddlesome priest?" line from Henry II. The King isn't explicitly ordering you to cut off Thomas A Beckett's head. But everybody in the room knows that's precisely what he is saying.
MR: "Paul, I've noticed that when we field our strongest team we win...."
PW Thinking: "Ah ... I get it".
Hmmm that sounds clever but well you know, you can work it out.

You can't really blame anyone for going AWOL at Leeds during that time in fairness. Horrible environment to work in.

Don't think the quote feature is working that well at the moment, it won't even let me quote at all. I would presume other clubs are repaying the covid loans, if they took them. I'm not saying that is the reason we're hesitant on recruitment, just wouldn't be a surprise for any business to decide it needs to make cost savings.

Davies and Royle aren't ahead of Jonny Vaughan in ability.

Exactly. While he’s having a good year at Salford, his Leeds exit left question marks over him.
